I’m waiting for the test results on a nasal tumor in my Hunny, a 13 year old bull dog mix. The oncologist recommended radiation. I don’t know what to do either.

I feel so upset that My Angel is so sick. Don’t you wonder whether she is being poisoned by the “treatments” she is receiving. She has already suffered too much. I would prefer to see her getting holistic care. Is there a Naturopathic Vet. near where you live? I’m on Vancouver Island in Canada and there are several natural ways to help. Please research other alternatives instead of Chemical “cures.”
Please give her a chance to get other treatment … don’t “put her down” She deserves any help she can get. PRAYER HELPS TOO!

My Angel (her name) – has Hemophagocytic Histiocytic Sarcoma confirmed through exploratory surgery, removal of spleen, biopsy of liver and bone. This cancer is a very very rare blood cancer where the white blood cells attack the red ones.

From her 1st vet appt on Feb 11th to now, Apr 27 is 11 weeks. We are taking her to UC Davis Vet School – the only known study for this cancer was done there. In the study all dogs passed with the max time of 8 months. Some dogs were euthanized so the longevity rate isn’t completely measured.

The spark in her eyes is fading and she breaths harder – we think due to the steroids.

Bottom line is they’ve got her on daily low dose 10mg steroids and Pepcid, 20 mg 2x day. Also Anti-nausea (when needed). They didn’t recommend chemo because there was no proof of any efficacy in the study.

We’re considering taking her off the steroids as a comfort measure…just don’t know what to do next. I’m torn between trying to ‘fight it’ and just make her comfortable until she passes or we believe it would be best to put her down.

Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.
